Does God exist ?

This is one of the best explanations of why God allows pain and suffering that I have
seen...A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the
barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many
things and various subjects. When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the
barber said:"I don't believe that God exists." "Why do you say that?" asked the
customer." Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't
exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be
abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't
imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things." The customer thought for a
moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument.

The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the
barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed
beard. He looked dirty and unkempt. The customer turned back and entered the barber shop
again and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not exist." "How can you say
that?" asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on
you!" "No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there
would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."
"Ah, but barbers DO exist! That's what happens when people do not come to me."
"Exactly!" affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! That's what
happens when people do not go to Him and don't look to Him for help. That's why there's
so much pain and suffering in the world."

A Dog in the Bushes

On my walk yesterday I had to heed the call of nature in the bushes, and I quickly hung my bead bag on a branch. Somehow, the picture of Lord Jagannatha on the bag ended up looking at me, and I thought of Srila Prabhupada’s words: “You have seen the dog and the master. The master is so friendly to the dog–out of love. It is a dog, but when it is passing stool, the master is waiting. Why? Is the duty of the master to wait while the dog is passing stool? No. Out of love. Out of love. We can see from practical example. The master may be a great millionaire, but still, he loves the dog so much that on the morning walk he takes his dog and the dog is passing urine . . . What business the dog has got? To pass urine and stool and go this way and that way. But the master is attending. Similarly, God, Krsna, is so affectionate that we have come here to this material world simply to pass stool and urine, and still He’s attending. Just imagine how merciful is Krsna.” (Srila Prabhupada lecture, September 29, 1974)

Fragrance of Flower

Prabhupada, Bombay, January 19, 1975: [...] So Krishna says, punyo gandhah prthivyam ca. When you smell something very fragrant… Just like in the flower. There are different varieties of flower, and they are exacting different varieties of aroma from the earth.

So the good smell of the flower… In some other place it is said in the Bhagavatam that the…, when you see flower, you see Krishna smiling. That is the seeing of Krishna smiling. Therefore the flower should be utilized for Krishna’s service.

Because these flowers, everything, is Krishna’s energy. Parasya saktir vividhaiva sruyate. So specifically good fragrance of flower, Krishna says that “I am that.” Krishna’s particular presence is there. So we can remember Krishna immediately. This Krishna consciousness movement is that you remember always Krishna.

Always Krishna. Just like Maharaja Ambarisa did. Sa vai manah krsna-padaravindayoh. He engaged his mind at the lotus feet of Krishna simply by engaging the mind. Vacamsi vaikuntha-gunanuvarnane. If we utilize our senses always in the service of the Lord, that is bhakti.

At the present moment we are utilizing our senses for material objectives. That is to be purified. It should be used for Krishna’s service. We are using our senses for the service of society, friendship, and love.

But that service should be transferred to Krishna. Then it is bhakti. Sarvopadhi-vinirmuktam tat-paratvena nirmalam [Cc. Madhya 19.170]. Bhakti means… This flower, we are smelling; we are enjoying. That is sense gratification. Similarly, this same flower, if it is offered to Krishna as garland, that He will smell it and feel pleasure, that is bhakti.

Eternal Spark

"How to feel happiness ?" is the all time question of human beings. The answer of this question is closely associated with the question "From with part of our body we feel happiness ?". Only after getting the answer of this question we can find "From where to feel happiness ?". The most sensitive part of human being the mind. To which all other senses are connected. Happiness felt by senses are temporary and in this way our mind will also get temporary happiness. So, what is that feel permanent happiness ?. The soul. The soul which always puts alive the mind. The soul which always resides in every living being. The soul which is eternal. The soul which cultivates the body. The soul which is part of the supreme soul. And supreme soul is one, only one. The supreme soul which is the greatest enjoyer. And who is the greatest enjoyer. Lord Krishna !. Shree Krishna is the cause of the eternal spark which keeps us alive. If this spark not there a man is called dead. So the body is nothing. The eternal spark is the main thing. And which is eternal, only can get permanent happiness. So, should make happy to the root. The root of this eternal spark. The soul is the eternal spark. The root of the soul ,Shree Krishna. One should make happy to Shree Krishna. Only that is the right and only way of getting happiness.

We can make Lord Krishna happy by chanting this name -

Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Here Hare

Hare Ram, Hare Ram, Ram Ram Hare Hare

This is easiest and best way in Kali Yuga ( The modern age) to be happy.

Just like a materialistic man satisfies this mind by satisfying his senses, a spiritual practitioner man can satisfy this soul by chanting the name of Hari, Hari Krishna.
